- To make a Windows bootdisk (Windows XP/7) select NTFS as file system from the drop down.
- Then click on the buttons that looks like a DVD drive, that one near to the checkbox that says “Create bootable disk using:”

OLD Method – How To install Windows XP From USB
You’ll need WinToFlash tool to make bootable USB and install windows xp from usb.
Download Windows XP SP3 ISO
If you don’t have windows XP iso then you can download free windows XP SP3 ISO here.
Easy Steps to Install Windows XP With USB Drive
Open WinToFlash software this will help you to install windows XP.
Once the software is opened Follow below screenshot. If you have windows XP ISO then mount image to Virtual drive using ultraISO. If ultraiso is not installed then you can download ultraiso from here. Otherwise if you have Windows XP CD then insert into your CD rom.

The WinToFlash supports both CD and ISO File to be read as disk image and copy that to drive letter. The procedure is mentioned in below screenshot.

For example in my case Drive E contains Windows XP ISO image mounted. whereas F drive is my usb. Then Click Next button and your USB pen drive will be formatted. This tool will make usb bootable and will install windows XP on usb drive. Once the process is 100% then you can reboot computer and boot XP from USB.
If you hit any errors during installation of XP via USB then please comment here. This tool also supports installation of Windows 8 and Windows 7. However you can also find complete tutorial to to install windows 8 from USB and Windows 7 from USB.
NOTE:
Most people had issues on Installing XP through USB Pen drive. If all of the above fails then I suggest to burn it on CD. This works 100%.

Dear Fatima Ji,
I downloaded windows XP sp3 iso from here and burnt it through imageburn to a DVD. Now I find that when the DVD is loaded in CD/DVD drive when it is already running XPsp2 the welcome screen opens for instalation of XPsp3 but when I keep the DVD in the drive and reboot the system or shutdown and start the computer it is not booting from the DVD and takes me to HDD boot as per system.I have set in bios the peference of 1st chioce as CD/DVD.It appears that the disk is not a bootable instalation disk.
You have already replied to me that this DVD is Bootable.
So pl clarify where I am making mistake.I have to clean install win sp3 prof 32 bit and I am looking help for this. I dont have the original xp cd because this computer is very old and the original OEM instalation was Win2000 which was removed from system and I loaded XP sp2 from a cd i got from my friend and this too is giving trouble so I want a clean instalation of win XPsp3 Prof 32bit.

After spending days (literally!) getting this lil’ HP Mini 110 working with XP (thanks again for your excellent website & process – worked perfectly 🙂 ) I realize that the 160 GB OEM hard drive isn’t going to cut it – so I’m using XXClone (Freeware version because I’m ‘frugal’, lol!) to copy my settings to a 500 GB HDD that I happen to have kicking around…have you used XXClone yourself?

Hi, I don’t know if this is the proper page to post this. But feel free to send me to a page where I can. I just need so desperately. We have an old PC which still had windows xp. I was trying to upgrade to W8 but it seemed that I can’t (my bad), it had something to do with my processor not being compatible (error code 0x0000005D).
I tried the files and tutorial here to just revert it back to Windows XP with a USB, but I was getting an error (missing NTLDR).
I can’t get the PC to start. Can anyone please help me with either reverting back to Windows XP or getting help with installing W8.
